Fragments of a Perfect World

From a distance, the world often appears complete.

Mountains meet the sky.
The moon finds its place above the horizon.
A lonely boat rests upon still water.

Everything seems to belong.

Sailship in the moonlight

Yet distance has a way of hiding things.

When we move closer, we begin to notice details that were invisible before. Edges. Fragments. Traces of how the image came to be. The illusion remains, but so does the evidence of its creation.

Like life itself.

Eagle flying over dramatic landscape in full moon.

We admire its beauty from afar, while the closer view reveals something different. Not perfection, but layers. Not certainty, but pieces gathered together over time.

These works live somewhere between those two perspectives.

Woman at night in dramatic landscape.

Between the landscape and the memory.
Between the dream and the making of the dream.

Beautiful from a distance.

And perhaps more honest when seen up close.
